Sunny afternoons with warm breezes blowing, whispers of mesquite and pecan smoke filling the air. Kids playing, folks pitching horseshoes, music soaring while people gather, making new friends. And overflowing plates of juicy brisket, glazed pork ribs and crispy chicken.

“Who’s BBQ is better?” It was this question, stated more like a challenge, that started Cinco de Guyos back in 2006. What began as a competition among friends, quickly grew into a charitable organization hosting a successful annual barbecue event, Meat Me In Bulverde. Now in it’s sixth year, Meat Me In Bulverde, is a Texas State Championship BBQ, by proclamation of the Texas State Senate, that raises thousands of dollars to help support a number of charitable community organizations.
